This was a modern adaptation of Shakespeare's classic in which Romeo is transgender. After coming out and being thrown out on the streets by his parents, he chooses the Montagues as his family of choice. 

Most of the clothes were bought and pulled, but the renderings of the costumes showed the director what was the idea for each character.

Following are the renderings and the photos of the costumes in chronological order for each character. The textures used for the background of the renderings were part of the set design for the same show, made by Meghan McLaughling. The Montagues all had many tattoos that I also designed. They are also based on motifs from the set design:
Mercutio had a chest tattoo that only he wore:
The Capulets had a tattoo that all the men wore on their arms:
The costumes also include little girls who were Romi's childhood friends. The challenge with them was to provide little girl costumes that were easy to change since many of the actresses were included in the next scene as a different character.
The shifters for this show were also costumed to make them look like homeless characters:
